The Contest

No, I’m not referring to the famous television episode of Seinfeld! I’m referring to ways to get your donors and prospects to actually read and keep your planned giving newsletter. As mentioned in Gypsy… “You Gotta Get a Gimmick!” My gimmick for this article was the first sentence of this paragraph. It hooked you in, right?
One fabulous gimmick for a planned giving newsletter is a free offer. I’m referring to a good old-fashioned reply and get-something-free-in-return offer. It works like a charm. If you include a free token in your newsletter and tie it to a relevant offer, recipients will be more likely to read it, reply to it, and keep it.
One of our clients recently received a great response to their newsletter—about 150 replies in the first week and still counting!

Why? Because they followed Pentera’s recommendation to craft a relevant offer in their newsletter and then they also offer a free token to those who replied. The huge response validates the message recently discussed in Pentera’s president Claudine Donikian’s client Webinar about the importance of the offer in driving responses.
