Pentera President & CEO Claudine A. Donikian will be presenting implications and recommendations from The 2016 Planned Giving Study at the plenary session of PPGGNY's Annual All-Day Conference May 25 in New York City. Presenting with Ms. Donikian is Una Osili, director of research at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
The many significant planned giving questions Ms. Donikian will address based on the new study findings include:
- At what age should you begin marketing and cultivation of donors?
- Which are the top generations for planned gifts, and how do you market to them?
- What key donor data should you be tracking?
- Should legacy society membership be automatic or opt-in? And should gift documentation be required?
"Several years ago I realized that there was very little research about the behaviors of actual donors who made actual planned gifts or actual gift intentions, so I approached the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy about Pentera's interest in funding this national study that is the first to look at institutional data from a national sampling of top university planned giving programs. Until now, most research has just been on surveys or tax return data," Ms. Donikian said. "Looking at these top planned giving programs helps us discover best practices that can be used to guide all types of planned giving programs at various organizations."
Dr. Osili will present the study findings, followed by Ms. Donikian's presentation of implications and recommendations. The presentation at PPGGNY is called "New Insights from Data on Planned Gifts" and is from Volume 1 of the multiphase study that is being researched and written by the Lilly School and funded by Pentera.
The 9:00 a.m. presentation is at the NYU Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South. Information on the Annual All-Day Conference of the Philanthropic Planning Group of Greater New York is available
